In our latest ‘Five mins with…’ series we meet Darryl Davies, Director at Premier Asset Finance. Darryl tells us about what he enjoys in his role at Premier and his claim to fame at Karaoke!

Can you tell us a bit about your career background to date?

I’ve worked in finance for 42 years and during this time I’ve only worked for three employers, Midland Bank, Bank of Scotland and Premier Asset Finance.  Since 1985 I have specialised in asset finance and have worked in branches throughout the UK.

What attracted you to the asset finance sector?

It was originally a role I ‘fell into’, yet now couldn’t see myself doing anything else.

What is your main focus at Premier Asset Finance and what do you enjoy about the role?

Together with my colleague Steve Toshack, I look after the South Wales region for Premier Asset Finance.  The wide variety of industry sectors I work in always keeps the job interesting. Each customer within these various sectors has their individual requirements and I truly enjoy finding financial solutions for them.

What’s the most interesting deal you have worked on?

Each deal is interesting. However, I had a recent case where a well-established business looked to refinance existing assets and the requirement to facilitate the purchase was both challenging and time-consuming but ultimately successful. The new owners have enjoyed a very rewarding first year in control of the business and they’re going from strength-to-strength.

Thank you for taking the time to participate in this interview today. Before we go, we’d love to know if you have any hidden talents or party tricks?

Not exactly a party trick but I was asked to undertake my first-ever karaoke performance this year as a duet with a very well-known Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter. We performed one of her hits with my singing being truly shocking. This ‘historic’ performance was captured on film and posted on her website where it has thousands of views. Unfortunately, no record contract has been received by me so I am stuck with Asset Finance!
